So. Here I am, unjobbed and still procrastinating. So I decided to just get on with it.
I bought a pair of pale blue 100% cotton curtains, label says Ikea, from a local charity shop for 4 whole pounds. Someone had done a hatchet job on the bottom of them and Wundwebbed it up. So I washed them, peeled of the remnants of the webbing, ironed them and had a think.
I have 3 patterns, I know so profligate. I decided I would use the trousers, 3/4 length with ties. No elaatic, no buttons, no zip. Easy to start off with. Then, remembering it has been about 20 years since I last wielded a pair of scissors in anger, I had a worry. And then another worry.
So I went off to Sew Sew Studios where the wonderful Nic took over. She steamed one of the curtains (what was wrong with my ironing? Oh, yes, the folding creases). She helped cut out the right pattern. We discussed using the pulled thread pattern as our guide for what was 'straight' and she cut and chatted through all sorts of stuff, including notches, front/back (the material is almost identical each side).
I have decided not to use the pocket in the pattern. I want a side pocket, like cargo pants have, on each leg. Phone and purse. I am thinking about using some flowery print material, to make them stand out.
So, they are at home, pinned together and ready to go. Cotton tape is on order, will be here on Wednesday, by which time they will be almost finished, pockets decided, sewn on and ready to wear.

Now, I still have the other curtain...
